How simplyIC Live doubled their event audience when they moved to an online community

The simplyIC event was adapted to a digital format, going from a 2-day in-person event to a 4-hour virtual event. Instead of 300 attendees, 700 people registered for the virtual event and over 560 people attended. Many of these were new attendees, from America, Europe, and New Zealand, as the event was more accessible to those overseas.

simplycommunicate is a network of over 300 internal communication professionals. They hold two conferences, simplyIC, and the simplysummit. The largest events in the UK for internal communicators interested in the digital workplace.

In response to the Covid-19 lockdown, simplycommunicate turned to Zapnito to help run their event, simplyIC, in a virtual format and create an online community around it.

The platform also needed to replace the simplyIC live event during the lockdown, going beyond simply a series of webinars. The team wanted to have a digital venue’ where members could explore different rooms and engage with the speaking topics. Simultaneously, the team needed a reliable platform that wouldn’t have technical issues during the event – there were top-line speakers and attendees from around the globe, including Sir Martin Sorrell, speakers from top brands and esteemed professors.

simplycommunicate now plans to grow this community, moving towards a subscription model to reflect the ongoing value that the community provides. It also plans in-depth research and data to keep members updated with incoming changes in the industry and how this impacts their role.
