Please tell us a little bit about yourself

After university, I began my career as a Marketer with Ford. I moved into the executive search (Headhunting) industry in the late 1980's and spent the next 25 years recruiting across most functions and disciplines, helping to run and grow boutique search firms too. I retrained as an executive Coach and mentor in 2011 and now work with individuals and teams on all manner of leadership and career challenges. Outside of work, I am a father of 3 (including an up and coming rock star!), a keen freshwater swimmer, tennis player and technology enthusiast.

How did you end up becoming a Zapnito advisor?

I’ve known Charles personally and professionally for some time. As a coach he introduced me to Zapnito’s content marketing and publishing capabilities through the Psychologies/Life Labs Internet channel and blog. I have been using the platform for a few years now as a Life Labs expert contributor and through Charles and Jon i am very familiar with the business model. Charles invited me to become an advisor to the business and i am sure we will continue to help each other in this context.

Why is Zapnito necessary and important today?

Businesses that want to engage with their audience in a manageable and controlled environment need Zapnito. This is a platform that really works for both knowledge providers and their experts and also the audience, who are increasingly looking for a bespoke, noise free environment in which to share ideas and content.

How do you see Zapnito’s business developing in the next 5 years?

Well personally, I like Zapnito as it is. Its just such an ideal channel to distribute content to the market. Media clients need it over social media channels as you can own the data shared on it and manage the community within it. For that reason, I can see it becoming a must have for publishers and media providers and a source of competitive advantage for any businesses which want to engage their audience in a more professional, and intimate way.

What in your opinion/experience is the single-most important skill in running a successful start-up?

Vision and tenacity for sure. I appreciate that this is two, but without the vision there would be no strategy or direction and without the tenacity you would never make it through the bumps and road blocks, which come with the territory.

What has been the biggest lesson you have learnt in your career to date?

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and don’t fear failure. Nobody has all the answers and if you don't take risks nothing of importance will ever happen. You will always learn more from your occasional failures so get out there and shine!

And what is your main career goal for the next 5 years?

Grow my business in manageable way by taking on a diverse range of clients. So far I have coached and mentored individuals and teams in Law Firms, Technology pure plays, Media companies and the NHS to name a few.

If you could advocate one company to the world (aside from Zapnito & your own), what would it be and why?

The NHS and BBC because we are so lucky to have them, and most other countries need them, or equivilent organisations. It may seem unfashionable to recommend two monoliths but our country would be infinitely poorer without them.

Everyone has a brilliant app idea. What’s yours?

Real-time coaching on demand via a Zapnito app. That sounds like a great product for the coaching community, don’t you think?

If you had £1 billion and had to invest it in only one of the following three, which would it be and why? 1. Virtual Reality 2. Artificial Intelligence 3. Renewable Energy

Renewable energy. We have time to address the other two but are in the last chance saloon for our environment.

So that's me. Please do contact me if you would like to learn more about Zapnito or even to get in touch about my work. David Head (david.head@acceleratingexperience.com)
